The experience
You start at the Tuna and Wind Monument, where the instructors fit you with a 5–7 mm wetsuit with hood, booties, fins, mask and snorkel: all MARES gear in working condition. A short theory talk covers how to use the mask and fins, then the guide walks through the marine life and geography of the Strait Natural Park. The water session lasts 40–50 minutes depending on group size, moving through the park's caves and cliff formations where visibility stays high and the water stays calm.
This is the southernmost point of Europe, sitting between two seas in a protected natural park. The marine fauna and flora are typical of the Strait. You'll see a diversity of fish and the landscape the instructors choose for you. The whole activity, from meeting point to collecting your belongings afterward, takes about 90 minutes. Bring a swimsuit or bikini and a towel. Everything else is provided and locked up while you're in the water.
The Municipal Parking is a 10-minute walk from the meeting point. Children from age 7 can join. The activity suits all fitness levels and works for families, couples, groups and solo travelers. Service animals are welcome.
