Seville: Alcazar & Cathedral Tour with Skip-the-Line Tickets
Walk royal halls and ancient gardens then climb the Giralda tower
You’ll wander through Seville’s Royal Alcázar with a local guide sharing stories you won’t find on signs, step inside the soaring Cathedral, and end with time to climb the Giralda tower at your own pace. Expect quiet courtyards, centuries-old tiles underfoot, and moments where history feels surprisingly close.

The Experience
We were already standing under those orange trees in the Real Alcázar courtyard when our guide Marta waved us over — she’d just pointed out a tile I almost missed, blue and chipped at the edge. The air smelled faintly of jasmine even though it was only March, and someone nearby was laughing in Spanish. I kept thinking about how many centuries had passed since anyone first walked these same stones. Marta told us about the palace’s layers — Moorish arches, Christian kings, Game of Thrones fans (she grinned at that). It’s easy to get lost here, not just in the gardens but in all that history pressing close around you.
Afterwards we crossed into the Seville Cathedral — honestly, I didn’t expect it to feel so vast. The echo swallowed up our footsteps for a second. There’s gold everywhere but also this hush, like everyone is holding their breath. Marta explained how it’s the third largest cathedral in the world; I tried to picture what that even means until we stood under the dome and my neck started to ache from looking up. She pointed out Columbus’ tomb (or maybe part of him? She shrugged — “Spanish history is complicated”).
The tour ended officially but Marta encouraged us to climb the Giralda tower on our own if we wanted. It’s a long walk up — ramps instead of stairs, which I guess made sense for horses back in the day. My legs complained but reaching that view over Sevilla was worth it. Bells ringing somewhere below, rooftops stretching out like an uneven quilt. I leaned against cool stone for a minute longer than necessary before heading down. Still think about that breeze up there sometimes.
