A four-hour collage workshop on Tazacorte beach in La Palma where you paint paper snippets in blues and greens, then tear and glue them into compositions of sea, sky, horizon and rocks. All art materials are provided. The guide teaches in English or German. Children from age 10 can join with an adult.

The experience

The workshop happens on the beach wall itself in Tazacorte Playa, right in front of the water. You start by painting paper snippets in the colors of the sea (blues, greens, light and dark shades) on large sheets pinned to the wall. Then you move into the collage work: tearing, cutting and gluing those painted pieces to build compositions around the themes of waves, beach, horizon, rocks and sky. The guide leads you through the technique, and the setting means you're working with the actual sea in view the whole time.

All art materials come with the class, so you bring nothing except yourself. The workshop runs four hours and suits both beginners and people who've done collage before. If the weather is too windy for working directly on the wall, the setup adapts. The guide will confirm conditions when you book. Nearby you'll find a café, supermarket and restaurant if you want to eat before or after.
