A two-hour art class in Los Llanos, La Palma, where you learn a new painting, drawing or mixed-media technique in the first 30 minutes, then spend the rest of the session making your own work with one-on-one guidance from the instructor. All materials (watercolor, oil pastels, colored pencils, charcoal, chalk) are provided. The class suits absolute beginners and experienced artists alike.

The experience

The session opens with a focused 30-minute introduction to one technique: watercolor painting with professional-grade supplies, oil pastels, colored pencils, drawing with pencil or charcoal, or chalk work. The instructor walks through the approach, shows you how to handle the materials, and answers questions as you work through the first piece. This is the scaffolding. The thing that gets you past the blank page.

For the remaining 90 minutes, you choose your own direction. Keep working with the technique you just learned, or pivot to something else entirely. The instructor circulates, offers individual tips, and helps you solve problems as they come up. You're not following a lesson plan. You're making something. All the materials stay in front of you, so switching between watercolor and charcoal or trying a new approach mid-session costs nothing but time.

The class happens in a café setting in Los Llanos, and the guide leads in English or German. The space is wheelchair accessible, and all surfaces are level. Bring nothing but yourself. Every supply you need is already there.
