From there you walk the excavated grounds themselves. Only 10% of the original 112 hectares has been uncovered, so what you see is partial, fragmented: foundations, walls, the skeleton of what stood. The scale becomes clear as you move through it: this was not a residence but a statement, a city built to impress and to rule.

The final part is a 3D audiovisual in an on-site auditorium: a short film that reconstructs the city as it was, filling in the gaps between the ruins you just walked. It shifts the fragments back into form, showing you the courtyards, the decorated halls, the water channels, the density of a place that functioned for only 70 years before it was abandoned. If you're coming by bus from Cordoba, the shuttle departs at 10:00 a.m. and costs €10 per person round trip, including the shuttle from the parking area to the site entrance. If you drive, parking costs €3 and you'll take the same shuttle up. Service animals are welcome, and the terrain and pace suit all fitness levels.
