The experience
Which route fits your day depends on what draws you: the Tramuntana route climbs toward Valldemossa and Soller through mountain passes, stopping at a peaceful hidden spot where your guide shares local stories over ensaimada, then at the Byzantine gardens and legends of a former archduke's mansion, then at a small family olive oil and orange farm where you learn how they work. The inland route crosses the windmill landscape to Algaida, passes through villages of barely 500 people where you walk to ancient Islamic washing places, and ends at the Sanctuary of Cura perched 550 meters up with 360-degree views across the island. The coastal route heads south to a fig tree research field holding over 1,700 varieties, a lighthouse built in 1862 still standing on the cliffs, and finishes at the Es Trenc salt marshes where a salt company representative walks you through how the ponds concentrate salt for harvest.
The minivan holds eight passengers, so the group stays small enough that your guide can stop and linger without rushing. Pickup happens from your hotel. If you have your own transport, you can meet the group at a set point instead. Lunch is always pa amb oli (the Mallorcan rustic bread with tomatoes, olive oil, cheese and olives) eaten at one of the stops locals actually use, not a tourist spot. Between the main meal you taste ensaimada (a local pastry), salt cookies with cheese, and sample wine and fresh orange juice. Water and snacks travel with you.
The tour runs six to seven hours door to door. Your guide speaks English, Spanish or German and knows the back roads, the family businesses, and the stories behind each village and landmark. Strollers and service animals are welcome, and the pace suits all fitness levels since most stops involve short walks or standing time rather than hiking.

Is this one for you?Book this tour if you want to skip the main tourist circuits and see how Mallorcans actually live in the villages and farms inland. The small minivan and local guide make it possible to stop in places a larger bus cannot reach and to hear stories from the people who work there, rather than moving through a scripted itinerary.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish and German.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (6 to 11 years); Infant (under 6): free.
How do I choose between the three routes?
Route 1 (Tramuntana) focuses on mountain villages and a historic mansion with Byzantine gardens; Route 2 (Inland Villages) centers on windmills, rural hamlets and the Cura Sanctuary with island views; Route 3 (Salt Marshes and Cliffs) explores the southern coast, including a lighthouse, fig tree research field and working salt ponds. Pick the one that matches what you want to see.
What is pa amb oli and will I actually enjoy eating it?
Pa amb oli is Mallorcan rustic bread rubbed with tomato, drizzled with olive oil, and topped with cheese, olives and jam. It is the everyday lunch locals eat, and the tour serves it at a typical spot where Mallorcans gather, not at a restaurant set up for visitors. Cheese and olives come on the side so you build it to your taste.
Do I need to arrange my own transport to the meeting point?
Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so you do not need a car. If you have your own transport, you can meet the group at a designated point instead.
What happens at the stops? Do we just look, or do we do something?
You walk short distances to see the sites, taste food and drinks at most stops, listen to your guide explain the history and stories, and at some stops (the olive farm, the salt marshes) learn directly from the owners or workers how things are made. It is a mix of walking, tasting and learning, not a bus-window tour.
How many people will be on the tour?
The minivan seats eight passengers maximum, so your group stays small. This means your guide can adjust the pace and spend time at each stop without managing a large crowd.
