The Experience
Hands press against cool surfaces, eyes adjust to shifts in color, and then you realize you're standing inside a photograph waiting to happen. That's the first room at IKONO in Madrid — a space where the digital and the physical blur so completely that you stop thinking about the camera and start thinking about how to move through it. The whole experience runs about sixty minutes, and it's built around one simple idea: each room is yours to remake. Local artists designed the spaces, but you decide what they mean when you're inside them.
There's no script, no guide talking at you, no "correct" way to pose. You walk into one world, then another, and each one hits a different sense — color first, then texture, then smell, then something you didn't expect. The rooms blend what's real (paint, fabric, light you can touch) with what's digital (projections, layered images, effects that shift as you move). It's not a museum where you stand back and look. You're meant to be in it, to lean on things, to find angles that work only because you're the one standing there. That's where the photos come from — not from trying to look good, but from moving through spaces that were made to be moved through.
WiFi is included, so you can upload or share as you go if that matters to you. The space works for anyone — kids in strollers, older travelers, people who've never thought of themselves as photogenic. The only requirement, according to IKONO's own words, is that you make each space your own. That sounds like pressure until you get there and realize it just means: don't worry about doing it right, because there's no right way to do it.
What’s included
Your ticket grants entry to all sensory rooms, WiFi throughout the space, and sixty minutes to photograph and experience each installation designed by local Madrid artists. You bring your own camera or phone; everything else is provided.
