Climb to the rooftop and see Barcelona through Gaudí's eyes

La Pedrera: Casa Milà is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Barcelona where you enter with a timed ticket and an audio guide in multiple languages. You move through early 20th-century apartments, the innovative attic space, and the rooftop with its sculptural chimneys and city views. The audio commentary reveals Gaudí's techniques and inspirations as you go. Timed entry means last admission is 30 minutes before the 18:30 closing time, and the rooftop closes if rain arrives.

Step-by-step itinerary

Explore La Pedrera - Casa Milà

  • Explore preserved apartments
  • Listen to audio guide
  • Visit innovative attic space
  • Walk through intricate courtyards
  • Enjoy rooftop panoramic views
  • Admire sculptural chimneys

The experience

What makes Casa Milà worth the visit? The building itself: Gaudí's undulating stone façade and wrought-iron balconies are visible from the street, but inside is where the design logic reveals itself. The audio guide walks you through the apartments as they were lived in, then up through the attic where you see how Gaudí solved the problem of a sloped roof with a catenary arch structure. That's the path to the rooftop, where the chimneys stop being functional and become sculpture.

The rooftop is the showstopper. The chimneys twist and lean like figures in a crowd, faced in broken tile and stone, and from up there the city spreads to the horizon. On clear days the views reach across Barcelona's grid to the hills beyond. If rain comes, the rooftop closes for safety and you don't get a refund. The ticket is valid for another date if that happens. Storage is available at the venue if you need to drop a bag before you enter. Large luggage isn't allowed inside.

The audio guide comes in 10 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, German, Korean and French, plus Catalan. You move at your own pace through the apartments, the courtyards, and the attic, so the visit takes as long as you want it to. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and families with strollers can navigate the main floors. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing at 18:30 each day.
