Swimming unaccompanied is required to snorkel.

4h

Step-by-step itinerary

Catamaran cruise along Gran Canaria coast

  • Depart from Puerto Rico harbor
  • Search for dolphins in open waters
  • Sail past cliffs and sea caves
  • Spot turtles and flying fish
  • Anchor in calm bay
  • Enjoy Canarian-style chicken lunch
  • Swim, snorkel, or ride banana boat
  • Relax on spacious deck with drinks

The Experience

The Magic 3 catamaran departs Puerto Rico and heads into open water where the captain searches for dolphins before the boat turns toward the dramatic southern cliffs. You'll pass sea caves and striking rock formations as the coast rises above you. The route takes roughly 4 hours total, and the deck is spacious enough that you're not crowded even with 80 passengers aboard.

Once the boat anchors in a calm, clear bay, the snorkeling window opens. The crew hands out equipment and you enter the water on your own terms—some guests snorkel while others swim, sunbathe on deck, or take a turn on the banana boat. Lunch arrives while you're in the bay: Canarian-style chicken with local potatoes, mojo sauces and a seasonal salad. Beer, sangria, soft drinks and water flow throughout the entire trip, so you're never reaching for your wallet at the bar.

Pickup is optional and available from nine spots along the south coast—Bahía Feliz, San Agustín, Maspalomas, Costa Meloneras, Pasito Blanco, Argueneguín, Puerto Rico, Taurito and Puerto Mogán. If you arrange it, the crew will assign you the nearest point. Without pickup, you make your own way to the harbor. The guide speaks English and Spanish, and children from age 3 are welcome aboard.

Top questions

Can I snorkel if I'm not a strong swimmer?

You must be able to swim unaccompanied to snorkel on this cruise. If you're not confident in the water, you can still join the trip—you'll have the deck, the banana boat, and the meal while others are in the bay.

What's the water like where we snorkel?

The anchorage is a calm, crystal-clear bay where the boat holds steady. Turtles, flying fish and other marine life pass through the area, though sightings depend on the day and the season.

Does the catamaran stop to look for dolphins?

Yes, once you leave Puerto Rico harbor, the captain searches for dolphins in open waters before sailing toward the cliffs. Spotting them is not guaranteed, but it's part of the route.

Is lunch included, or do I need to bring my own food?

Lunch is included—Canarian chicken with local potatoes, mojo sauces and a seasonal salad, served while the boat is anchored in the bay. Beer, sangria, soft drinks and water are unlimited throughout the 4 hours.

How do I arrange pickup if I don't have a car?

Pickup is optional and available from nine coastal towns. Contact the operator after booking to confirm which pickup point is nearest to you, and they'll assign you the closest one.

What should I bring on the cruise?

Snorkeling equipment is provided. Bring a bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, comfortable clothes and shoes. A camera is useful if you want to capture the cliffs and the bay.
