The Experience

The Girona Art Museum opens at 10 a.m., and that's where you start — not because the staff insist on it, but because the pass works that way. You validate it here first, then you have 48 hours to move through the other two sites at whatever pace suits you. The museum itself sits in the old Episcopal Palace next to the Cathedral and holds the third most important collection of Romanesque and Gothic art in Catalonia. You're looking at works that span from the Romanesque period straight through to contemporary pieces, all of it tied to the region's religious and artistic history. The audio guide downloads to your phone or you can borrow one on-site, so you're not walking through in silence.

From there, the Cathedral is a few minutes' walk uphill — 90 steps up a spectacular staircase to the entrance. It's the one you've probably seen in Game of Thrones if you've watched that show. The nave is the second largest in the world, behind only St. Peter's in Rome, and it's genuinely hard to take in all at once. The scale of the space, the way the light moves through it, the age of the stone — none of that translates in photos. You can spend an hour here or twenty minutes; the pass doesn't rush you.

Sant Feliu, the Basilica of Sant Felix, is the third stop and the oldest of the three. Construction started in the 12th century and didn't finish until the 17th, so you're seeing Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque all layered into one building. The real draw is inside: eight Roman and early Christian sarcophagi from the 3rd and 4th centuries, plus the Gothic tomb of Sant Narcis. It's the kind of thing that makes you realize how much history is literally built into these streets. The pass covers all three, and because it's valid for 48 hours, you can split them across two days if the crowds get heavy or you just want to breathe between stops.
