Walk through the gavias and volcanic soil where Fuerteventura's wines grow

A guided tour of Conatvus Winery, Fuerteventura's first D.O. vineyard, where you walk through the planted gavias and volcanic gavia, see the production and bottling process, then taste the wines paired with local Fuerteventura oil and cheese. The tour runs about an hour with a live English-speaking guide. Children are welcome from age 16.

The Experience

Conatvus Winery holds the first Denominación de Origen Protegida certification in the Canary Islands, and the tour starts in the vineyard itself. You'll see the different grape varieties planted in jable and volcanic gavia (the traditional planting system that works with Fuerteventura's terrain), and learn how the cultivation takes advantage of the island's volcanic soil and climate.

From the vineyard you move into the winery building to watch each stage of production: fermentation, aging and the bottling process, each one tailored to the grape variety being made. The guide walks you through what happens at each step and why the process matters for the final wine.

The tasting happens in the winery's tasting room, where you sample several of their wines alongside Fuerteventura oil and local cheese. The pairing is built around products from the island, so the tasting becomes a small introduction to what the region produces beyond wine.
