Then you arrive in Rupit around 1pm with two hours to yourself. The hanging wooden bridge, the 16th-century houses, the baroque Church of Sant Miquel — you see them at your own pace. Lunch happens here too, at a traditional restaurant your guide can help you choose or book. The Castle of Rupit sits on a rocky peak above the village if you want to climb up after eating, or you can just sit with a coffee and watch the light change on the stone.

The final stop is Tavertet, where a short walk takes you to the Cingles de Tavertet sandstone cliffs overlooking the Pantà de Sau lake. Your guide points out the 11th-century Church of Sant Cristòfol, then you're back in the van for the return drive through the forests of Magatalls and past the El Montseny natural park — a UNESCO Man and Biosphere reserve.
