Scuba Diving in Barcelona: PADI lesson with underwater video
Gear, hand signals, and 40 minutes underwater in Barcelona
A 2-hour PADI diving lesson in Barcelona for first-time divers, taught by experienced instructors in English, Spanish, Italian or French. The first hour covers equipment use and underwater communication through hand signals; you then spend 30–40 minutes submerged while instructors film you. Use of all SCUBA gear is included, and you receive the underwater video as a souvenir. Arrive 15 minutes early; no dives are permitted within 12 hours of air travel.
The Experience
The lesson starts on land. Your instructor walks you through how the SCUBA equipment works, the hand signals you'll use to communicate underwater, and what to expect during the dive itself. This theoretical part takes the first hour and gives you the foundation you need before entering the water. You don't need diving experience—the class is built for people who have never dived before and want to feel what it's like to breathe underwater.
Once you're geared up and in the water, you'll spend around 30 to 40 minutes underwater with your guide. The instructors film the dive so you have a video of yourself down there—something to show people and to remember the moment. The whole activity runs 2 hours from start to finish.
After you're done, the Diagonal Mar area is nearby if you want to explore one of Barcelona's best neighborhoods. One important note: you can't fly for at least 12 hours after diving, so plan your airport departure accordingly. Arrive 15 minutes before your start time; late arrivals aren't permitted and won't be rescheduled.
