The experience

The balloon lifts off from the Globódromo in Segovia, a launch field 500 meters from the city wall where you can already see the Cathedral and Alcázar before you leave the ground. The flight itself lasts roughly an hour, carrying you over the World Heritage City and its surroundings: crop fields, the monuments themselves, and the landscape where roe deer and other wildlife move across the terrain. Your pilot explains what you're seeing as you drift, and the basket's stillness lets you take in the scale of it all without the noise and rush of other ways of seeing a city from above.

After landing, you'll take part in a tradition that dates to the first hot air balloon flight in Paris in 1783: a celebration at the landing site with Iberian sausages, cheese, soft drinks, water and cava. You'll receive a flight diploma marking the occasion. The operator provides an HD video of the experience and a photographic report, so you have a record of what you saw from up there. The whole outing (from arrival at the Globódromo to return to the meeting point) takes about three hours.

Transportation from Madrid is optional and can be added at checkout. The activity is wheelchair accessible and welcomes children from age 6. It suits all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or pregnant travelers. Guides speak English and Spanish.
