Step-by-step itinerary

Wine tasting and city highlights

  • Visit Alicante Central Market
  • Learn about Alicante wine and gastronomy
  • See Plaza de los Luceros fountain
  • Attend private wine tasting session

The Experience

The experience starts at Alicante Central Market, where your guide introduces you to the region's wine and food culture before leading you to a private wine bar. The market itself is the entry point—a working space of movement, smell and sound that sets the context for what you're about to taste. From there, you'll walk to Plaza de los Luceros, the city's landmark square centered on a fountain designed by local sculptor Daniel Bañuls, and continue to the tasting venue.

Once at the wine bar, you'll taste three glasses of wine—a white, a red, and a super local orange wine—each paired with a selection of fresh appetizers and regional olive oil. The pairings change with the season and what's available from local farms and small vineyards. Your guide, a local who knows the region's wine production firsthand, walks you through each glass, explaining what makes Alicante's wines distinct. This is not a passive tasting; you're learning the specifics of the grapes, the producers and the pairing logic behind each course.

The whole session takes three hours. You'll need at least one other person to book—the tour runs as a private group, not a solo experience. If you have dietary restrictions or are vegetarian, let the operator know when you book and they'll adjust the food pairings accordingly.

No prior knowledge is required. The guide is a local connoisseur who explains the wines as you taste them, so you'll learn as you go. The session is designed for wine lovers who want to deepen their understanding of Alicante's production.

Can I do this tasting if I'm vegetarian or have dietary restrictions?

Yes. The operator accommodates vegetarians and other dietary restrictions, but you need to notify them in advance so they can adjust the tapas pairings for your needs.

How long does the whole experience take, and what's included in the price?

The tasting runs three hours and includes three glasses of wine paired with a selection of fresh appetizers and regional olive oil. The food samples vary depending on what's in season and available from local producers.

Is this experience accessible if I use a wheelchair or have mobility concerns?

Yes. All areas and surfaces are wheelchair accessible, and transportation options are wheelchair accessible as well. The experience is suitable for all physical fitness levels.

What's the minimum group size, and can I book this for just myself?
