The experience

The ferry leaves Spain for Tangier, where your driver meets you at the terminal to begin the private guided tour. From there, the route follows the Atlantic coast through Asilah (a whitewashed artists' town with restored medina streets) before turning inland toward Fes. The first major stop is Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site holding some of North Africa's best-preserved Roman ruins and mosaics. After lunch, you continue to Meknes, the former Imperial City, then overnight in a 4-star or 5-star riad in Fes.

Day two is a full walking tour of Fes's medina, the most complete medieval city in the Arab world. The guide leads you through narrow streets lined with spice stalls and woven carpets to the Leather Tanneries, Medersa Attarine, the Karaouine Mosque, and the Moulay Idriss II Shrine. You'll see the Royal Palace, Fes El Jedid, the Jewish quarter, the potters' district, and the Bleu Gate of Boujloud. After lunch, the route continues south to Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains, where you overnight in another 4-star or 5-star riad.

The final morning begins with a city tour of Chefchaouen, the holy city with its signature powder-blue houses and lime-washed doors. You visit the local markets, animated with traditionally dressed vendors and colorful goods, then end at the Ras el-Maa waterfall: the spring that supplies the city's fresh water. From there, the drive returns to Tangier and the ferry crossing back to Spain. The minivan is air-conditioned throughout, and a bilingual driver provides commentary in English, Spanish, French, or Arabic.

Is this one for you?Choose the 4-star riad option if you want comfort and cultural immersion at a moderate price point. The 5-star option suits travelers who prefer more upscale amenities and service. Either way, the private minivan and bilingual driver mean you're not managing ferries, rental cars, or navigation. Just stepping out at each stop.
