Step onto the sets where Dong Yi and BTS filmed—and recreate the scenes yourself

You're driven from Seoul to the MBC studio complex where famous K-dramas and BTS music videos were filmed, given entry and a guide who shows you the sets, and left free to walk around and recreate your favorite scenes. You'll see working production areas and period-built palaces, streets, and fortresses. Transport back to Myeong-dong is included, and the whole outing takes a half-day.

5h

Step-by-step itinerary

Visit MBC Dae Jang Geum Park

  • Travel from Seoul to the park
  • Explore filming locations with guide
  • See fortresses, houses, and palaces
  • Recreate favorite K-drama scenes
  • Spot BTS Suga Daechwita video site
  • Possibly watch a show filming

The Experience

Driving out from Seoul toward Yongin, you're heading to MBC Dae Jang Geum Park, the sprawling studio complex where some of Korea's most-watched K-dramas came to life. The coach winds through the outskirts for about an hour, and then you're walking through gates into a place that doesn't quite feel like a park—it's more like stepping backward into another era. Fortresses, palace courtyards, period streets, all built for cameras. Your guide meets you at the entrance and walks you through the layout, pointing out which dramas filmed in which sections: Dong Yi, Lee San: The Wind of the Palace, Queen Seondeok. If you've watched any of these, the sets hit different when you're actually standing in them.

The real draw for most visitors is the chance to recreate scenes. You can pose in front of the palace gates, walk the same streets the actors walked, stand where BTS's Suga filmed the Daechwita music video. There's no script to it—you just move through the park at your own pace with your guide, stopping where things catch your eye. Sometimes you'll round a corner and find a crew actually filming something, which means those areas are off-limits that day, but that's part of the deal. The park changes depending on what's shooting, so no two visits are exactly the same. It's not a museum with ropes and glass; it's a working set, which means you're walking through active production space.

The tour includes transport by air-conditioned coach from Seoul, entry to the park, and a guide who knows which scenes belong to which shows. You'll get dropped back at Myeong-dong in the late afternoon. The whole thing works best if you're already familiar with at least one or two of the dramas—if you're not, the sets are still impressive as architecture and period design, but the emotional payoff is smaller. Groups stay small, usually under a dozen people, which keeps the experience from feeling like a school trip.

What’s included

Top questions

How long is the tour from Seoul?

About half a day, including roughly an hour each way in the coach plus time at the park itself.

What if I'm not a K-drama fan?

The sets are still worth seeing as architecture and design, but the tour is built around recognizing scenes from specific shows, so familiarity with at least one drama makes it more rewarding.

Can I actually see filming happening?

Sometimes. If a production is underway, those areas are restricted, but you might catch crews working in other parts of the park. It's not guaranteed.

Is there a guide included?

Yes, if you select the guide option. Transport and entry are always included; the guide is optional.

What's the minimum group size?

Two people. Tours require at least 2 passengers per group, and may be cancelled if that minimum isn't met, with a full refund offered.

Can I take photos?

Yes, you can recreate scenes and photograph yourself at the sets. If live filming is happening nearby, you'll need to stay quiet and not disturb the actors.

Is there shopping at the park?

No, this tour does not include stops at shopping centers.

What's the fitness level required?

Moderate. The tour involves walking around the park grounds. It's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
