Step-by-step itinerary
Jeonju Hanok Village and Jangtaesan Tour
- Pick up at Seoul stations
- Explore Jeonju Hanok Village
- Hike Jangtaesan or Daedunsan
- Return to Seoul and drop off
The experience
The day starts with pickup from one of three Seoul stations (Hongik University, Myeongdong, or Dongdaemun History & Culture Park) and a drive to Jeonju. Once there, you walk through Hanok Village, where more than 700 traditional wooden houses fill the Pungnam-dong district. The guide narrates the history and cultural layers woven through the architecture, pointing out the 20 cultural facilities scattered across the village (among them Gyeonggijeon shrine, Omokdae pavilion, and Hyanggyo), and explaining how hanok, hanji paper, Korean dress, traditional music and food all fit into the place.
After the village, you move to Jangtaesan for a forest hike along scenic trails. In autumn, the mountain comes alive with red, yellow and brown foliage. In winter, a cable car (included in the tour price) takes you to the summit for safety. Either way, the route passes a skywalk and suspension bridge where views open across the landscape. The hike is moderate in intensity and requires at least a moderate level of fitness. Winter visitors can rent crampons on-site if needed.
The return journey to Seoul follows the same route, with drop-off at whichever station you departed from. A professional guide who speaks English or Chinese travels with the group throughout.

Is this one for you?Book from the station closest to your Seoul accommodation to minimize your morning travel time. The three pickup points spread across the city so you're not starting from a single hub. The full 13-to-14-hour commitment suits travelers who want both the cultural immersion of the village and the outdoor hiking experience in one day, rather than splitting them across separate outings.

What exactly is Jeonju Hanok Village and why is it worth visiting?
Jeonju Hanok Village is Korea's largest traditional hanok settlement, with over 700 wooden houses built in the classical Korean style. The village integrates hanok architecture with hanji paper-making, Korean dress, traditional music, Korean cuisine and oriental medicine, and holds about 20 cultural facilities including shrines and pavilions that tell the history of the region.
Do I need to be very fit to do the Jangtaesan hike?
