The experience
You leave Seoul in the morning and arrive in Jeonju to start at Gyeonggijeon Shrine, built to house the portrait of the first Joseon king. From there the tour moves into Jeonju Hanok Village itself: the 7,000–8,000 traditional wooden houses that drew 15 million visitors in 2024. This is where you put on hanbok, the Korean traditional dress, for a 1.5-hour experience walking through the narrow lanes and taking photographs among the architecture. You'll also pass Jeondongseongdang Cathedral, Korea's first Catholic martyrium, and see the main gate of the old city fortress.
The second half of the day is Tapsa Temple, a Michelin Green Guide 3-star site in the Maisan mountains. The temple is known for its stone pagodas (hundreds of them, shaped like upside-down icicles) stacked in the peaceful grounds. The guide will walk you through the temple and the surrounding nature. Because the tour is 10 to 11 hours total and includes all the stops, the timing is tight. You'll move through each site rather than linger. Lunch is not part of the package, so you eat on your own schedule during the day.
Transport is round-trip from Seoul by vehicle, with insurance included. The guide speaks English throughout. If you're wearing hanbok, you can add hair accessories and a hat at checkout as an optional extra. Service animals are welcome on the bus.
