  • Enjoy lunch with local dishes
  • Visit Korea Tea Museum and tea ceremony
  • Relax at Choroknip Tea Farm terrace
  • Walk Haepyeong Lake Trail or hike Mt. Obongsan

The experience

Boseong sits in South Jeolla Province with the climate and soil that made it Korea's green tea heartland. The tour opens at Daehan Dawon, the county's most famous tea farm, where you walk paths to an observatory overlooking layered hillsides of tea bushes, the sea and nearby islands visible in the distance. The landscape stays green year-round, and the operator notes each day reveals a different light.

After the fields, you move to the Korea Tea Museum to learn how six types of tea come from a single plant and watch the production process through dioramas. In the tea experience room, a guide leads you through a traditional tea ceremony, teaching how to brew green tea and the basics of tea etiquette. Lunch follows with your choice of local dishes: stir-fried octopus from Boseong's coastal waters, grilled pork patties mixed with green tea powder, fresh cockles from the mudflats, dried yellow croaker aged with barley, or lotus leaf rice steamed with fresh leaves. Then you head to Choroknip Tea Farm, where you sit on a terrace overlooking rolling fields, a reservoir and the distant sea, and order a matcha affogato or green tea ice cream made from the farm's organic powder.

The afternoon takes you to Haepyeong Lake, a remote spot unreachable by public transit that keeps it quiet and untouched. The 3.9 km lakeside trail is mostly flat with only gentle inclines, lined with stone pagodas, cedar, bamboo and maple trees. Midway along the trail sits Choru Vinegar Park, where you taste a vinegar-based drink made from premium black vinegar aged outdoors for at least three years in traditional Korean earthenware jars, paired with handcrafted local delicacies. If you prefer hiking, you can choose Mt. Obongsan instead: a rocky ridge with historic stone pagodas and a hidden waterfall, taking roughly 45 minutes to reach the 320-meter summit and its views of land, sea and islands. The mountain once supplied nearly 70% of Korea's Gudeuljang stones for underfloor heating. The old ox-cart trail used to transport them is now the hiking path.
