The Experience

The day starts with a minibus ride into the heart of the forest, climbing to the highest points in the Garden Route National Park where the best descents begin. Once you're positioned at the top, you get on a Monster Scooter—a Swiss-designed, non-motorized board that handles sweeping bends and single track through the trees. The scooters are the same equipment used on Alpine ski slopes during summer when the snow melts, adapted here for forest terrain. Your guide stays with you throughout, and everyone wears helmets and safety gloves.

The ride itself is the core of the experience: you control your speed on the downhill, navigating through indigenous forest with the possibility of spotting local wildlife—the Knysna Loerie, bushbuck, or wild boar. The terrain mixes wider paths with tighter single track, so the ride has rhythm and variety. Because the scooters are non-motorized, there's no engine noise, which keeps the forest experience intact and makes the whole activity eco-friendly. The whole outing runs about two hours from start to finish.
