The experience

You ride out from Wine Valley Adventures into the foothills of the Simonsberg, moving at a speed that matches your riding ability. The route crosses working farms and vineyard land in the Franschhoek valley, one of South Africa's three world-famous wine regions. The operator has been running trails here for over 30 years and plans each ride around the full moon, so the light and the landscape shift as the evening deepens. Bottled water comes with you, and a helmet is provided.

The ride builds toward the lookout point at Vrede en Lust Wine Estate, where you stop to watch the sunset and take in the views across the valley. Here you get sundowners (a drink and snacks) to mark the end of the day. The whole outing runs two and a half to three hours depending on pace and the group. A maximum of 15 people ride together, and the experience is subject to weather. If conditions turn poor, you can reschedule for another date.
