The experience
The two routes sit on Gradiška Tura, a rocky outcrop that rises above the Vipava Valley. Furlan's Route is one of Slovenia's oldest via ferratas and offers a safe introduction to the sport with valley views the whole way up. Otmar's Route is steeper and more technical, with overhanging sections and climbs that demand focus and strength. Both are secured with steel cables and ladders, and both reward you with panoramic views of the valley below when you reach the top.
Your guide handles the safety systems and teaches you the climbing techniques as you go, sharing knowledge of the region's history, local plants and wildlife along the way. Equipment (self-protection system, climbing harness, helmet, via ferrata gloves) is provided, so you show up ready to climb. Hotel pickup is included, which means no navigating to the trailhead on your own.
The full day on the mountain leaves room for a leisurely start and a wind-down afterward, but not for a second major activity. If you're planning other sights in the region, this takes the daylight hours.
What’s included
- Private hotel pickup and return transport.
- full technical equipment including self-protection system, climbing harness, helmet and via ferrata gloves.
- expert guide in your chosen language.
- a gift at the end of the day.
