The experience
What makes this rafting different from a float trip is the stops themselves. Your guide leads the raft through the most exciting section of the Soča, accessible only by boat, and pulls over to let you swim in water that sits around 10°C year-round. Wearing neoprene makes the cold a refreshment rather than a shock. Between swims, you and the group build a raft-slide by stacking paddles and tubes, then take turns jumping and sliding back into the river. For anyone willing, Manhattan Rock rises 7 meters above a deep pool, and jumps from it are optional but encouraged.
The day starts at the base in Bovec, where you collect neoprene, helmet, life jacket and shoes, all professional-grade equipment. A 10-minute van ride takes you to the river entry point. The paddle itself runs about 90 minutes on the water, broken up by the swimming and sliding stops. Afterward, the van brings you back to base or your pickup location. Free parking sits at the base. Showers and toilets are there too. The operator sends photos and videos from the run to your email at no extra cost.
The Soča Valley team emphasizes safety: high water levels or debris in the river can shift which section you paddle, and they reserve the right to make that call on the day. Pickup is included if you arrange it. Public transport options exist nearby if you prefer to make your own way.

Is this one for you?Small groups work best here: the guide controls the pace and can stop for swimming and sliding without rushing. If you are comfortable in cold water and want to be active rather than passive, this is a full-body experience. Families with children aged 6 and up can join, though strong swimmers make the most of the stops.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (15 to 17 years); Child (6 to 14 years). Children under 6 can't be included in the booking.
How cold is the Soča River, and do I have to swim in it?
The Soča runs around 10°C year-round. You wear neoprene for the whole trip, which makes swimming comfortable rather than shocking. Swimming stops are part of the experience, but the guide controls the pace and depth. You are not forced into deep water.
Is the 7-meter rock jump mandatory?
Manhattan Rock is optional. The guide points it out and explains how to jump safely, but only people who want to do it step up. Most groups have a mix of jumpers and non-jumpers on any given day.
What happens if the river is too high or has debris in it?
The operator reserves the right to move you to a different section of the Soča if water levels are high or branches are blocking the usual route. Safety comes first, and you will still get a full rafting day on whichever section is safest.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to do this?
The operator does not recommend this activity for non-swimmers. You will be in the water during stops and need to be comfortable moving around in it, even with a life jacket and neoprene on.
What is included in the price, and what do I need to bring?
Neoprene, helmet, life jacket, shoes, parking, transport to and from the river, showers, toilets and photos are all included. Bring swimwear and a towel. You can leave dry clothes and valuables at the base while you are on the water.
How long does the whole thing take, and what time does it start?
The full experience runs about three hours from arrival at base to return. That includes the 10-minute van ride to the river, roughly 90 minutes on the water with stops, and the ride back. The operator will confirm your start time when you book.
