Fratarica Canyon canyoning: 48m waterfall descent
Rappel a towering waterfall into emerald pools
Canyoning in Fratarica Canyon is a four-hour descent through waterfalls, natural slides and gorges with a professional guide, helmet, neoprene suit and all equipment provided. A half-hour hike leads into the canyon, then you rappel the Parabola waterfall, swim through crystal-clear pools and climb over natural obstacles. Private transportation, changing room and locker are included; the guide speaks English or Hungarian.
The Experience
Fratarica Canyon opens with a short hike uphill, then the descent begins. You'll rappel the 48-meter Parabola waterfall—the centerpiece of the day—and navigate a series of natural slides and smaller drops between emerald pools. The guide handles all technical setup; you move through the canyon on rope, swimming between sections and climbing over rock formations the water has carved. Four hours of continuous movement through the gorge means you're always either descending, swimming or scrambling to the next obstacle.
Everything needed to move safely through the canyon comes with you: helmet, neoprene wetsuit, neoprene shoes, harness and straps to keep glasses secure. The guide is certified and leads in English or Hungarian, managing rope systems and pacing the group through each section. Private transportation picks you up and brings you back; a changing room and locker are available before and after so you can leave dry clothes behind.
The water stays cold year-round, and the canyon walls rise narrow and steep around you. You'll need to be comfortable swimming and have at least moderate fitness—the day involves sustained climbing, rappelling and water immersion. Children can join from age 16 when accompanied by an adult.

No experience is required. The guide manages all technical systems and leads you through each section. You do need to be a comfortable swimmer and have moderate physical fitness.

Straps for glasses are included so you can keep them secure while rappelling and swimming through the canyon.
How does the day start and end?
Private transportation picks you up and brings you to the canyon. A half-hour hike leads into Fratarica Canyon, then the four-hour descent begins. After you finish, you return to the changing room and locker to dry off before the drive back.
