The Experience

At one point I stopped just to listen: water lapping against stones, someone laughing behind me, gulls overhead. It felt quieter than I expected.

The last stop was Glengoyne Distillery. My shoes were still damp but honestly, I didn’t care by then. The place smelled sweet and sharp all at once — barley mash and oak barrels and something else I couldn’t name. Our guide explained how Scotch whisky gets its flavor (I tried to look like I understood but mostly just enjoyed my “wee dram”).
