The experience
The Inverness Castle Experience is built around two self-guided routes you control entirely. Inside the castle, the South Tower walks you through an audio-visual celebration of the Highlands using interactive exhibits. The North Tower shows tapestries and plays traditional music tied to stories passed down through generations. The Great Glen Roof Terrace gives you views across Inverness from the castle itself. You download the audio guide before arrival by scanning a QR code on your voucher, so there's no waiting for equipment at the door.
After the castle, the city audio tour is a separate downloadable app you use to explore Inverness at whatever pace suits you. The route takes in Inverness Cathedral and the Ness Islands (both named stops the audio guide covers), and you choose when to walk them and how long to linger. The whole experience runs between two and three hours depending on how much time you spend at each point. Bring your own headset and mobile device. The app works on any smartphone.
Check in by scanning the QR code on your voucher when you arrive, and download both audio guides before you get there if your connection is slow. Strollers are fine for infants and small children. Assistance dogs are welcome. Other dogs are not permitted on-site.
