The Experience

You get picked up in Glasgow and spend the day moving between three of five distilleries across the Highlands and Lowlands. The driver is experienced and knows the surrounding areas well, so the journey between stops is not dead time—you'll hear about the landscape and points of interest as you travel. Bottled water is provided, and you get a dram of whisky at each distillery as part of the tasting.

Each distillery visit runs about an hour and a half. Glengoyne produces its whisky in the Highlands but matures it across the road in the Lowlands, so you see both sides of that split. Deanston started as a cotton mill in 1785 before becoming a distillery, and that history shapes the tour. Clydeside sits in Glasgow itself. Auchentoshan is the oldest distillery in the Glasgow area. Entry fees vary by distillery (roughly £10–£12 per person) and are not included in the tour price, so you pay them on the day. When you book, let the operator know if you have a preference among the five—they'll do their best to include your choices depending on availability.

The whole day runs eight hours, which means you leave Glasgow early and return mid-afternoon. The start time can be adjusted if you need it to, so mention that when you book. Service animals are allowed, and specialized infant seats are available if you're traveling with small children.
