The experience
Six gins and liqueurs sit in front of you, and the person who made them is walking you through each one. Stirling Distillery is tucked a few minutes' walk below Stirling Castle on Lower Castlehill, and it's the town's first legal distillery since 1852. The tasting starts in the working distillery itself. You'll see the botanicals (including wild Stirlingshire nettles foraged for the flagship gin), the copper still, and the hand wax-sealed bottles before you sit down to taste.
The guided tasting moves through six gins and liqueurs: the flagship Stirling Gin at 43%, the navy-strength Battle Strength at 55%, the Gin Blue Line (a charity gin where 20% of profits support PTSD999), and three gin liqueurs made with real fruit. Green Lady, Red Cap, and Tropical Triumph. Your guide explains what each botanical brings to the glass, helps you compare your favourites, and gives you simple tips for making a better G&T at home. Children get a mocktail while the adults taste, so families can do this together.
The whole thing takes 90 minutes and fits easily into a morning or afternoon exploring Stirling Castle and the Old Town. You'll walk out with 10% off anything in the shop that day.
