The Experience

We rolled out of Aberdeen in this mini-coach—sixteen of us, still half-asleep, but our guide Jamie was already cracking jokes about the weather (he called it “classic Scottish optimism,” which I guess means bring your rain jacket). First stop: Dunnottar Castle. I’d seen photos, but standing there with the wind off the North Sea stinging my cheeks, it felt different—like you could almost hear old battles echoing around those ruins.
