The experience
The tour opens with a drive along Tahlia Street, where you'll see the shops and dining that mark Jeddah's modern side, then moves into the city's past. Your driver-guide provides context as you travel, setting up what comes next. The Tayyebat Museum sits in the Al Faisaliyah district inside a multiroom complex built to look like the old Hijazi architecture of the city itself. The building is part of what you're learning about. Inside, the exhibits walk through 2,500 years of Jeddah's history, from its role as a cosmopolitan port to what it is now.
After the museum, the driver drops you at Al-Balad, the old part of the city, and you explore on foot for about an hour. This is where you find the less-known local spots: the old market hidden gems and the galleries tucked into the narrow streets. You're not following a set path. You're walking at your own pace and choosing what to stop for. The Baghdadi house and the old gold market on Gabel Street are there if you want them, and the Ukash Mosque marks another corner of the district. After an hour, you rejoin the driver for the next leg.
The final stretch takes you to the Jeddah Corniche, a 30-kilometer coastal resort area that runs along the Red Sea. You'll pass the Al Rahmah Mosque and see King Fahd's Fountain, the world's highest fountain, rising from the water. The corniche has pavilions, recreation areas, and large-scale civic sculptures. A brief photo stop at the Super DOME gives you a moment to capture the view, and if the itinerary includes it, you may also visit the Islamic Art Museum before the driver takes you back to your hotel.
