The experience
The day starts at Dammam Corniche, a palm-lined coastal promenade along the Arabian Gulf where you walk past ocean views and local cafés. From there the route moves inland to Souq Al-Hob, a traditional market established in 1943 and known for its women vendors selling abayas, jewelry, accessories and beauty products that blend old designs with modern styles. The Heritage Village comes next: a recreation of traditional Saudi life with mud houses, historical souks and exhibits that show how people lived here across generations.
King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) is a cultural hub run by Saudi Aramco, hosting an auditorium, cinema, library, exhibition hall and museum. The tour also passes Tarout Castle, a 16th-century Portuguese fortress built over ancient ruins on Tarout Island. Artifacts found there trace back over 5,000 years, though the castle itself is currently closed to the public due to structural concerns. Your guide speaks English or Arabic throughout, and the vehicle is air-conditioned. Entrance fees and snacks are included, and all surfaces and areas are wheelchair accessible.
