The experience

You start in Cluj-Napoca and travel to Turda Gorge, where the real work begins: a 600-meter zipline carries you down into the canyon at 100 km/h, dropping 100 meters in the process. The gorge itself is nearly 3 kilometers long with walls sculpted from weathered limestone that rise 300 meters on either side. Once you land, the hiking begins: moving time is about two and a half hours with 339 meters of elevation gain as you navigate the canyon floor, past rock towers, steep ridges and dozens of small caves carved into the karst landscape.

The canyon is walkable for most ages and fitness levels, though the terrain is uneven and the elevation gain is real. You'll pass an accessible footpath, a small river running through the gorge, and climbing rocks scattered along the way. A sandwich and bottled water are provided to fuel the hike. In the evening your guide brings you back to your accommodation in Cluj-Napoca.
