The Turda Salt Mine is the centerpiece: you descend into chambers that once fed medieval Europe's salt trade, and the guide explains why extraction stopped and what the salt was worth in its time. A huge Ferris wheel sits inside the mine, and you can play table tennis or mini golf between stops. The real draw is the underground lake. You board a boat and float on water 120 meters below ground, surrounded by salt-carved walls. The mine has around 500 steps total, but the elevator bypasses 90 percent of them. In peak season, queues for the elevator can be long enough that the guide may direct you to the stairs instead. Inside, the temperature stays at 10–12°C year-round, so bring a sweater even in summer.
