The experience

The guide meets you in the Old Town and walks you through the main attractions on foot. You'll see the CEC Palace, the Stavropoleos Monastery with its ornate stonework, and the Macca-Villacrosse Passage, a narrow covered arcade lined with shops and cafes that cuts through the medieval street grid. The route also takes in the Old Turkish style caravanserai and the Old Court of Vlad the Impaler, both of which sit within the dense fabric of the Old Town's narrow streets.

If you choose the longer route, the guide walks you toward the Parliament Palace, the Casa Poporului, without entering the building. The walk shows you the scale of this structure, the second largest building in the world, built during the last decade of communist rule. The full tour with both the Old Town and the Parliament Palace walk takes 2 to 3 hours. The Old Town alone takes 1 to 2 hours. The National Museum of History is also included on the route.

The tour is private: groups of one to eight people pay the same flat rate per booking, so a solo traveler and a group of eight both book at the same price.
