Wander a working market, then sit down to eat what locals eat

A guided tour of Doha's Souq Waqif and Msheireb Downtown combines market exploration with tastings of traditional Qatari cuisine at local restaurants. The guide leads you through the souq's spice-filled alleys, handicraft stalls, falcon shops and horse stud, then to the Art Center where Qatari artisans work, followed by an Arabic meal. Hotel or airport pickup and drop-off are included, along with water and tea throughout the four-hour tour. During Ramadan (March 1–29, 2025), daytime meals are not provided; dinner tours and afternoon departures are available instead.

Step-by-step itinerary

Explore Souq Waqif and Msheireb Downtown

  • Pickup from hotel or airport
  • Visit Souq Waqif market and explore sections
  • See falcon shops, hospital, and horse stud
  • Visit Souq Waqif Art Center
  • Taste traditional Qatari meal
  • Drop-off at hotel or airport

The Experience

You start with pickup from your hotel or airport, then head straight into Souq Waqif—the market where locals actually shop, not just tourists. The guide walks you through sections most visitors miss: the falcon shops and hospital, the horse stud, the textile stalls, and the spice vendors whose goods fill the narrow alleys. The Art Center sits inside the souq itself, a place where you watch painters and craftspeople at work, mostly young women making traditional Qatari pieces. This is not a rushed loop; the guide knows which corners matter and why.

After the market comes the meal—a traditional Arabic set at a handpicked restaurant, the kind of place where the food tastes like it belongs to the place. Water and tea are provided throughout. Then the tour moves to Msheireb Downtown, the restored heritage district where old Qatari architecture sits alongside modern design. Interactive exhibits walk you through the history and traditions that shape the country. The whole arc takes four hours, and you end with drop-off back at your hotel or airport.

The dress code asks you to cover knees and shoulders, and nothing see-through—standard for the souq and the restaurants. The tour suits all fitness levels. Children from age one are welcome, and infants can ride in a stroller. Note that during Ramadan, daytime tours don't include meals; dinner tours and afternoon departures are the better choice if you're visiting then.

What’s included
