The experience
Ponta da Piedade is the Algarve's most photographed stretch of coast: golden cliffs, sea caves, and water so clear you see the bottom from the boat. A private charter means you skip the crowded group tours and the long queues at the public beaches. You depart Lagos Marina aboard Snow White, a refurbished luxury sports cruiser, with your skipper and nobody else. The boat is yours for the afternoon, so you set the rhythm: linger at one cove while others move on, anchor where the light hits the rocks the way you want it, play your own music.
The route takes you past three named beaches (Praia da Batata, Praia Dona Ana, Praia do Camilo) before you reach Ponta da Piedade itself. Along the way your skipper points out the geology, the local history, the spots where the light changes the color of the stone. Once you're anchored in the clear water, you swim, snorkel with the provided equipment, or try the paddleboard. The water temperature and the swell decide what's comfortable on the day you go. Your skipper reads both and steers you toward what works. Bring a towel of your own. Everything else, including bottled water and alcoholic beverages, is on the boat.
The half-day runs roughly three and a half hours on the water. Your skipper speaks English and Portuguese, so communication is straightforward. This works for couples, families with older children, or small groups who want to move at their own pace without a schedule dictating when to get back in the boat.
What’s included
