The experience
The boat leaves Portimão marina and sails toward Marinha Beach, passing roughly 20 caves carved into the cliffs. Benagil Grotto (a cathedral-like cavern open to the sea and ranked among the world's ten natural wonders) is the centerpiece. You choose how to spend the water time: snorkel with provided gear, try stand-up paddling, swim, or simply float and watch the rock formations rise around you.
A stop partway through gives you time to refresh in the water with the snorkeling and paddling equipment on hand. The boat carries everything needed, so you arrive ready to go in. After the water time, you return to the boat for a champagne or soda toast before heading back to the marina. A live guide in your choice of English, Spanish, Portuguese or French narrates the route and points out the caves as you pass.
Five departure times run throughout the day: 9am, 11:30am, 3pm, 4:30pm and 6:30pm. The tour is private, so it is just your group and the captain. Hotel pickup is not included, but the marina at Portimão is the starting point for all departures.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is Benagil Grotto and why is it on this tour?
Benagil Grotto is a massive sea cave on the Algarve coast, ranked among the ten natural wonders of the world. It is the main stop on the route: the boat sails past roughly 20 other caves along the way, but Benagil is the destination where you spend time in the water.
Do I need experience to snorkel or stand-up paddle on this tour?
No. Both activities are optional, and all equipment is provided on board. You can snorkel, paddle, swim, or simply stay on the boat and watch the caves pass. The guide will show you how to use the gear if you want to try either activity.
How long is the actual time in the water?
The tour runs 2.5 hours total. A dedicated stop gives you time to snorkel and paddle in the water. The rest of the time is spent sailing along the coast and viewing the caves from the boat.
Which departure time works best if I want fewer crowds?
The early departures at 9am and 11:30am tend to be quieter on the water. The afternoon times (3pm, 4:30pm, 6:30pm) are popular, especially the 3pm slot. Since this is a private tour, your group travels alone, but the water itself may be busier at peak times.
What is included in the champagne toast at the end?
A glass of champagne or soda is served on board after the water stop, before you return to the marina. It is included in the tour price.
