There's also the Santa Cruz district—the old quarter with flower-lined streets and plazas where people are actually sitting and talking, not just passing through. You can wander it if you have energy left, or skip it if you don't. The whole day is built around your rhythm, not a fixed itinerary. The drive back to the Algarve is long, but you've already done the hard part of getting there, and the car is quiet and cool. You arrive back at your hotel in the evening, which is when you realize how much ground you actually covered.
