The experience

CRISTAL is docked at Marina de Lagos and ready to launch into the Algarve's most photographed stretch of coast. The half-day charter runs 3.5 hours and takes you past Ponta da Piedade (a headland of yellow-golden rock formations up to 20 meters high), and then to either Alvor or Praia do Vau depending on sea conditions. Praia do Vau is a wide stretch of golden sand backed by cliffs, with rock formations at either end and calm, clear water where you can swim, paddleboard and snorkel. The full-day option gives you seven hours to explore further and learn the history of the surrounding area.

The boat carries a stand-up paddleboard, kayak and snorkeling gear, plus towels. Complimentary local wine (white, rosé, and the famous green wine), beer, soft drinks and a charcuterie board are included. You can explore sea caves, find your own hidden beach, and watch for herons, swallows, sand pipers, stilts, redshanks and flamingos that live in the lagoons along the route. If you're traveling with a small dog, one is welcome on board.

The guide speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese. All areas of the boat and surfaces are wheelchair accessible, and infants can sit on an adult's lap or ride in a pram or stroller. You choose between the half-day and full-day charter when you book.
