Portuguese Home Dinner or Tapas in Cascais: Local Stories & Wine
Two and a half hours of food, wine and the reason behind every dish
A dinner or tapas experience hosted at Teresa's home in coastal Cascais, where you cook and eat traditional Portuguese food while hearing stories from a lifelong Lisbon resident. You choose between a full menu (starter, fish rice main, dessert) or six shared tapas with the same courses. DOC certified Portuguese wines pair throughout. The host speaks English, Portuguese or French, and the session runs about 2.5 hours in a wheelchair-accessible space near Guincho beach.

The experience
You arrive at Teresa's home in Cascais, a short distance from Guincho beach, and step into a kitchen where Portuguese food is not plated for you but made in front of you. This is not a cooking class where you follow steps. It is a meal where the host walks you through the reason each dish exists, the story it carries, and how flavour tells you something about the way people here eat. You pick your menu when you book: either a full dinner (cheeseboard and hams, then Portuguese fish rice, then a traditional sweet) or six different tapas served the same way, with the same dessert to close.
Wine runs through the meal: a curated selection of DOC certified bottles from across Portugal, chosen to match what you are eating. The dishes are shared, so you taste what Teresa makes and hear why it matters, not just what goes into your mouth. The ocean breeze from Guincho carries through, and you hear the seagulls that live there. Two and a half hours is long enough to eat slowly, ask questions, and let the stories settle.

Is this one for you?Teresa's home sits in the coastal area of Cascais near Guincho beach, so if you are staying in Cascais or nearby without a car, you have a local address to reach rather than arranging transport to a restaurant across the city. The experience is built around her kitchen and her stories, which means the meal moves at the pace of conversation and cooking, not service: suited to someone who wants to linger and ask questions rather than move through courses on a schedule.
