You drive the buggy yourself—not a passenger watching someone else navigate. After a briefing on safety and vehicle controls, you spend three hours at the wheel on rocky paths through the mountains surrounding Porto, following your guide's lead through terrain a standard car cannot handle. The Serras do Porto Natural Park opens up routes that would be impossible on paved roads, and the guide handles navigation while you focus on the driving.

The route includes two main stops. Castro Mozinho is the largest Castro Roman settlement on the Iberian Peninsula, located in the parishes of Oldrões and Galegos near Penafiel—a substantial archaeological site that remains only partially excavated. From there, you move on to Quintandona, a preserved village where every building is constructed from schist, the local stone, giving it a distinctly Portuguese character that has stayed intact. The tour also passes the Rally de Portugal Shakedown, a testing ground for rally vehicles that adds another layer to the mountain landscape.

The buggy seats two people, so you can bring one passenger along, or opt for a four-seater if you're traveling with a group.
