The day starts with pickup between 8 and 8:30 at one of nine meeting points across Porto—including hotels, hostels and central squares—then a 1 hour 40 minute drive into the mountains. The 4x4 Land Rover is a vintage mountain vehicle, built for the terrain rather than comfort, so the ride itself is part of the experience. Once you arrive at the national park around 10, the walking begins: short paths (about 25 minutes each way) lead to either a waterfall or a lagoon depending on conditions, and both are swimmable if you want to cool off in the water.

Lunch happens at a local restaurant inside the park between 12:30 and 2, with a traditional meal and green wine included; vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available if you request them at booking. The paths are downhill and uphill with some scrambling over rocks and slippery sections, so the terrain demands attention but the walks are short enough that the day stays manageable. After lunch you visit a typical village where locals still live by older ways, and you'll spend about 30 minutes there while also taking part in a reforestation project—planting rather than just passing through.

The guide speaks English and knows the park well enough to read the weather and reroute if rain comes; an alternative plan exists for days when conditions shift. Drop-off back at your Porto meeting point happens around 6:30 to 7 pm.
