Three Cities in One Day from Lisbon: Porto, Nazaré, Óbidos
One day reaches three cities: a medieval village, a famous fishing town, and a UNESCO site on the river.
A twelve-hour guided day trip from Lisbon visits the medieval walled village of Óbidos, the fishing town of Nazaré with its world-famous surfing spot, and Porto's UNESCO-listed Old Town on the Douro River. The tour includes minibus transport from central Lisbon, a guide in English or Spanish, and a two-hour walking tour of Porto's historic streets and bridges. Lunch is free time on your own, or you can upgrade to include a traditional Portuguese meal. Groups travel together by minibus and split into smaller groups of up to 25 per guide at each stop.

The Experience
You start at Hotel Fénix in central Lisbon and travel by air-conditioned minibus toward Óbidos, a walled medieval village that sits on a hilltop about an hour north. The narrow cobbled streets are lined with preserved old houses and historic buildings, and the Castle of Óbidos dominates the highest point—one of Portugal's seven wonders. Your guide walks you through the village, showing you the layout and the key sites before you have time to wander on your own.
From there the minibus heads to Nazaré, a fishing town on the coast known worldwide for the giant waves that hit it every winter. You visit Forte de São Miguel, the fort that sits on the cliff where surfers gather to watch and ride those massive swells. Then you climb up to O Sítio, the upper town, where religious buildings, 17th-century churches, and modern shrines fill the courtyards and plazas. The walk up takes effort, but the medieval fortifications and views over the town reward it.
The final leg is Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Douro River. You have an hour to eat lunch on your own—or choose the upgrade to include a traditional Portuguese meal at a restaurant—then meet your guide for a two-hour walking tour of the Old Town. You walk past the Igreja do Carmo, the ornate Estação São Bento train station, the Igreja São Francisco, and see six bridges spanning the river, including the iconic Ponte Dom Luís. By late afternoon the minibus returns you to central Lisbon.
