The experience

You start at Lagos Train Station on an e-bike with a helmet and a guide who speaks your language. The ride begins through the old streets of Lagos, then opens onto the coast where the cliffs of Ponta da Piedade rise in front of you: the kind of limestone formations that make the Algarve recognizable from a distance. Between Porto de Mós and Praia da Luz the ocean spreads out on one side and the trail holds the other. You are riding, not watching from a bus.

The second half turns inland toward Ria de Alvor, a natural reserve where the water is shallow and the birds are real: herons, egrets, cormorants that live there, not tourists passing through. The e-bike motor handles the hills so the ride stays steady even if your legs are tired. There is time to swim if you want it, which most people do after two hours of riding. The return to Lagos follows the same route, so you know what is coming.

Bring closed-toe shoes. Sandals will not work on the pedals. Arrive at Lagos Train Station 15 minutes early. The tour runs in the morning and afternoon, and the operator tracks the weather. If the wind or the tide makes the route unsafe, they will tell you before you pay. Water is provided. Food is not, so eat before you start or plan to stop in Lagos afterward.
