The experience

The day starts with a jeep drive inland to Serra d'Água, a valley at the island's center, then heads north through off-road terrain with views over Porto Moniz, Paúl da Serra and São Vicente. You arrive at one of Madeira's main wine producers for a guided tour through their largest vineyards. The tasting includes one rosé, two white and two red wines, paired with a professional explanation of the island's wine traditions and production methods. This part of the tour ends by 1:30 pm at Funchal Harbor.

Before the vineyard tour, you stop at Cabo Girão, the highest sea cliff in Europe at 589 meters. The suspended glass floor viewpoint lets you stand above the Atlantic and look down toward Câmara de Lobos and Funchal. In summer, swimming is possible below the cliff if conditions allow. The jeep tour handles all the driving and navigation through Madeira's interior roads and off-road sections.

At 3:00 pm, you board a catamaran at Funchal Harbor for the dolphin and whale watching cruise, which runs until 6:00 pm. This gives you free time to eat lunch between the jeep tour and the boat departure. The tour includes pickup from central Funchal or the port, a professional guide for the jeep portion, safety instructions and first aid, and all insurance required by Portuguese law.
