Benagil Cave boat tour from Armação de Pêra: 15 caves
Fifteen caves and beaches only reachable by water
A 1.5-hour guided boat tour departing from Armação de Pêra beach takes you to Benagil Cave, the Blue Eyes Tunnel, Senhora da Rocha Chapel, Arcos da Praia da Marinha and a dozen more sea-accessible caves and beaches along the Algarve coast. Life jacket, guide and captain are included; the guide speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese or French. Infants sit on an adult's lap; service animals are welcome.
The Experience
The boat leaves from Armação de Pêra beach, so there's no separate transfer or meeting point to navigate — you walk to the water and board. The guide narrates the route in your language, pointing out the caves as you move along the coast. Benagil Cave is the centerpiece: a massive sea cave with a sandy floor and an opening in the roof that lets light pour in. The Blue Eyes Tunnel, a narrow passage with two circular openings, comes up early in the tour and tends to be the moment people stop talking.
Beyond the famous stops, the tour strings together 15 caves total, many of them only reachable by boat. You'll see Senhora da Rocha Chapel perched on the cliffs and Arcos da Praia da Marinha — natural rock formations that frame the beach. Gruta do Paraíso and smaller unnamed caves fill out the route. The pace is steady; you're moving along the water the whole time, so there's no hiking or climbing involved. A life jacket is provided and required.
The tour runs 1.5 hours start to finish. Infants travel free but must sit on an adult's lap. Service animals are allowed on board. The guide is a live person, not a recording, and switches between English, Spanish, Portuguese and French depending on the group.

How many caves does the tour actually visit?
The tour passes 15 caves and 15 beaches along the route. Benagil Cave, the Blue Eyes Tunnel, Gruta do Paraíso, and the formations at Arcos da Praia da Marinha are the named stops; the others are smaller caves and coves you see from the boat.
What language will the guide speak?
The guide speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese or French, depending on the group. You'll know the language when you book or arrive at the beach.
