The experience

The tour starts in Porto and heads into the Douro Valley on day one, stopping at Mirante do Imaginário viewpoint for a welcome drink before moving through the Douro Museum and Quinta da Pacheca, where a guide walks you through the vineyard and cellar before a tasting. The afternoon brings you to Pinhão for a Rabelo boat cruise (the flat-bottomed wooden boats that once carried Port downriver) with a Port wine tasting on board. You'll also visit the D'Origem Olive Oil Museum in Casal de Loivos before checking into your hotel in Peso da Régua for the night.

Day two takes you from Peso da Régua through São Leonardo da Galafura viewpoint and into Quinta do Seixo Sandeman, where the winery visit includes a tasting of three Port wines. The route passes through Vila Real and then Amarante, where you have free time to walk the São Gonçalo Bridge, explore the convent cloisters and the church, or simply sit by the river. You return to Porto in the late afternoon.

The final morning is spent in Porto's historic centre: Avenida dos Aliados, Castelo do Queijo, the catacombs beneath São Francisco Church, and the Ribeira district's narrow streets and riverside cafés. You'll have a free afternoon before your hotel drop-off. Breakfast is included each morning. Lunches and dinners are on your own, leaving you to eat where locals do.
