The experience
Eleven hours takes you through three sites that document Jewish history in Poland before, during and after the Holocaust. At Treblinka, you'll watch two short films about the Reinhard Action and the camp itself, then walk the museum and the memorial grounds where around one million people (mostly Jews, but also Roma, Sinti and other minorities) were killed in gas chambers between 1942 and 1943. The scale of the place is the point: the museum holds the model. The grounds hold the silence.
Tykocin is the break in the day. It's a shtetl town that wasn't destroyed by Germans, so the 17th-century buildings still stand as they were: the Synagogue, the Talmudic House, the Church of the Holy Trinity, and the Alumnat, one of Europe's first military hospitals. You'll have time to rest and eat lunch here. The Jewish cemetery, established in 1522 with the oldest gravestones from 1754, sits within the town. It's a place to see how a community lived, not only how it was erased.
The final stop is Lopuchowo Forest, a few kilometers from Tykocin. A memorial stands where 250 Jews from Tykocin were murdered and buried by German Nazis in 1941. The tour ends there. You travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with a driver who also serves as your guide for the day.

Is this one for you?Eleven hours means you'll spend most of the day traveling and at the three sites, leaving little room for other Warsaw attractions on the same day. Book this tour when you can dedicate a full day to Holocaust history and Polish Jewish heritage, and when you want a guide to contextualize what you're seeing rather than exploring on your own.
