The Experience

“You’ll want to try the outdoor pool — trust me,” our driver grinned as we pulled up to the Chocholow Thermal Baths from Kraków. The water was hotter than my morning shower (they said 32–36°C), and when I leaned back against the edge, you could hear laughter echoing off the tiles. Some folks were playing water basketball; others just floated quietly, eyes closed. Our guide pointed out the wild river section but honestly, I was happy just watching dusk settle over the mountains from a steaming barrel outside. It’s funny how you can feel both tiny and totally relaxed at once.

We had three hours total (changing time included — don’t forget), so it felt unhurried but not endless. I grabbed something quick at the restaurant inside — pierogi, obviously — and tried to ask for more napkins in Polish. Li laughed when I butchered it, but hey, at least I tried.
